“FamilyCare Services” are what makes us different!

What are our “FamilyCare Services”?

They are the type of care that a family would provide, if only they could.

Families are often busy, they live interstate and overseas, they go away on holidays – meaning that they may be unable to help out immediately. Having our trusted staff here on site is invaluable. Trained and reliable, our staff are here 24 hours of every day, able to respond in case of an emergency.

Our specialised “FamilyCare Services” are optional, flexible and easy to access. If and when you need our services, you will find that they offer as much or as little assistance as you require. Our staff are here to assist with the full range of services available.

Our “FamilyCare Services” are available to cater for your short-term or long-term requirements.

Imagine being able to go away for a holiday, or a short hospital procedure, knowing that we can water your plants, collect your mail and keep an eye on things for you. We do all of the gardening and facility maintenance so that things are taken care of, even if you aren’t at home.

You can continue to enjoy your current lifestyle while you live at Leabrook Place, coming and going as you please. But, if something changes, you are able to easily access the help that you need to remain independent and continue with your chosen activities.

This is the essence of our “FamilyCare Services” and it is what makes us unique.

Care and Wellness Coordinator
A point of difference for Leabrook Place.

Dani, as the Care and Wellness Coordinator provides an added extra service to the residents of Leabrook Place.

Her diverse role offers residents the opportunity of individual support as well as arranging group social activities and outings to promote wellness and fun.

“It is very hard to describe the breadth of this role as it varies daily, but everything I do is guided by suggestions and requests from the residents. It’s the best job in the world” Dani McK

Group activities can range from chair yoga and meditation to scrabble and colourful artistic mandala creations. Dani facilitates small-group monthly bus trips, where residents explore some of the beautiful locations around Adelaide.

Supporting people on an individual basis, Dani uses her extensive background in health and community support. She can assist residents and their families navigate the complexities of the My Aged Care system when this is needed. She also helps people with issues with their digital phone, TV or tablet, and on occasion can act as an ad hoc personal assistant by helping with the completion of forms and paperwork.

Utilising her years of nursing, Dani can offer helpful advice in accessing products, services and tools that can assist with home/life activities that may become challenging as we age. She also offers guidance for residents and their families in making the best use of services offered by Leabrook Place and other external providers.

Dani offers social support for people who do not have a strong social network, or a family that live far away. This is one of things that can make a huge difference in a person’s life and provides reassurance and comfort for the resident and their family.

“It is amazing the difference a coffee and chat can make to someone who maybe feeling a little lonely, or who just needs to talk over an issue that may be worrying them.” Dani

"None of my family lives here in South Australia, so I needed to be independent. It’s the best move I could have made."
